James Glasgow
Chief Investment Officer
Mr. Glasgow joins Castle Lanterra with over 30 years of industry experience as Chief Investment Officer. Mr. Glasgow is responsible for overseeing investments, capital markets, and portfolio management and will have direct oversight of all new investments across every asset class, both debt and equity. Mr. Glasgow also serves on the firm’s Investment Committee and Executive Committee.
Prior to joining Castle Lanterra, Mr. Glasgow spent the last four years as the Chief Executive Officer of BLT Green Hollow. From March 2016 to June 2019, Mr. Glasgow was president of Building and Land Technology (BLT) where he was responsible for managing a combined equity portfolio between the fund and private side with assets valued at over $5 billion including office, hotel, multifamily, condominium conversion, and retail with investment strategies including credit/special situations, ground-up construction, and renovation and reposition. Prior to BLT, he was a partner and co-portfolio manager with Five Mile Capital Partners (FMCP) where he was employed since its inception in 2003. Mr. Glasgow’s was responsible for all of the commercial real estate activities of the firm included managing a team of 13 professionals at its peak and serving as co-portfolio manager for two separate fund vehicles and, as a player/coach, managed to invest over $3 billion post-2008 in similar investment strategies to those outlined herein. Since 2007, Glasgow has managed the investment, execution of the business plans, and disposition of over $6.5 billion of commercial real estate and debt. Prior to FMCP, he served as Senior Vice President/Executive Director at UBS Warburg and its predecessor PaineWebber for four years, where he was responsible for originating, underwriting and structuring large loans and high-yield investments to institutional quality commercial real estate owners. Previously, Mr. Glasgow served in senior management roles at Prime Capital Funding LLC, ING Capital Corp. and MIG Financial Corp. Mr. Glasgow worked at The Travelers Insurance Company and subsidiaries for approximately six years as a commercial real estate mortgage and equity portfolio manager. While at Travelers Insurance Company, he was actively involved in joint venture equity and debt restructurings, foreclosures and REO, bankruptcy litigation, and discounted payoffs (over $6 billion in transactional experience). Mr. Glasgow started his career in the real estate lending division at Chemical Bank in the mid-1980’s.
Mr. Glasgow holds an MBA in International Business from George Washington University and a BA in Business Administration from Lebanon Valley College, where he has served on the Board of Trustees. He is also on the Board of Trustees of The Calhoun School, and Westside Little League.
